Belimbing or little star fruit

Thumb-size fruit that resembles a gherkin. Related to the same botanical family of carambola (starfruit), when cut across into slices, they look like miniature starfruits. Used in chutneys, pickles, relishes and curries. My grandma sliced the fruit and stir-fry with chilli slices and brown bean sauce and served with congee. The fruit impart a zesty, tangy flavour to the dish. Need not peel the fruit as the skin is thin and fine.
